Chogm money scandal embarrasses Uganda
With reference to the headline story; Bukenya, Kutesa face MPs over Chogm cash in Daily Monitor of March 1, I wish to offer an alternative point of view. If I correctly understand the words of Jesus in Matthew 5:13, it appears that quite a lot of saltiness has come and gone from Uganda of recent.
Moral fibre brought by the British, the level of education, those brilliant minds now in the Diaspora, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and her advisers hearing about Chogm money scandals (a total embarrassment for a developing Commonwealth country), the Global Fund, NUSAF etc.

What next after CHOGM corruption scandals?
The public accounts committee of Parliament is mandated to examine the audited accounts showing the appropriation of funds granted by Parliament to meet Government’s public expenditure.
It is now some time since the committee, headed by MP Nandala Mafabi, launched investigations into the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) expenses and I appreciate the work they have done.
The committee has proved there was a lot of mismanagement of public funds and many Government officials have been implicated in these scandals.

PAC should stand its ground
We, who love this country and care much about the prosperity for all, appreciate what the parliamentary accounts committee (PAC) is doing, especially in the fight against corruption. Minister Kabakumba Masiko has not appeared before PAC to explain why she referred to it as a ‘torture chamber’. PAC should stand its grounds if it is to be taken seriously.
