The Dokolo LC5 chairman, John Baptist Okello, has criticised MPs over ignoring the shortage of drugs in health units.
He explained that Dokolo sometimes goes for two months without drugs, saying the sh110m which the Government releases annually was not adequate.
He noted that each health centre II gets sh790,000, health centre IIIs sh1.2m, while health centre IVs get sh7m after two months.
Okello was addressing the residents of Adok sub-county at the opening of a children’s ward at Adok Health Centre II constructed by Lango Forestry Company at sh24m.
Malaria accounts for 52% of patients admitted in health units in the district, according to the district health officer, Dr. Samuel Ojok.

Kasese gets sh700m clean water project
Water projects worth about sh700m have been commissioned in various parts of Kasese district.
They include a sh650m government-funded gravity flow scheme in the mountainous and hard-to-reach parts of Mahango sub-county and Rukoki parish.
Five boreholes, funded by the United Nations Children’s Fund, were also commissioned in the lowland sub-counties of Maliba and Munkunyu.
A 14km-murram road, constructed at sh280m, was also commissioned. It will serve the agricultural productive areas of Kitabu and sub-counties around Lake Katwe.
Officiating at the commissioning ceremonies last week, the district chairperson, the Rev. Can. Julius Kithaghenda, urged the beneficiary communities to own and manage the projects for sustainability and to utilise them to fight poverty and diseases.
A representative from the water ministry, Alice Ninsiima, noted that Kasese district had over 40 gravity flow schemes, which provide clean and safe water, unlike other areas of Uganda.
Ninsiima also warned that water can be dangerous if hygiene and sanitation are not properly observed.

Kamuli Police officer held over bribe
A police officer attached to Namayira Police post in Kamuli district was on Wednesday arrested for allegedly soliciting a sh100,000 bribe from a suspect.
Harriet Mutesi, a Police constable, allegedly demanded the money from Charles Wampande, accusing him of sorting matters out without involving the Police.
A trap to net Mutesi was set by the eastern regional office of the Inspector General of Government (IGG) after Wampande reported the problem.
It started when Wampande’s neighbours dragged him to Namayira Police post in June, accusing him of letting his cattle eat their crops. Wampande said he negotiated with his neighbours and agreed to compensate them.
He explained that when Mutesi learnt that he had sorted out the matter, she sent local defence unit officials to arrest him.

Two held over robbery in Nyendo
The Police in Masaka have arrested two men over dressing in army uniform and robbing a resident of Nyendo Sennyange division.
The southern regional Police spokesperson, Noah Serunjogi, said Godfrey Matovu and Muhamudu Mubiru, both residents of Kakyafu zone, put Jonathan Mugabo and his wife at gunpoint as they entered their gate at about 8:30pm last Friday.
.
The Masaka Police commander, Titus Byaruhanga, said the suspects locked Mugabo inside his car boot, but they failed to drive the car away.
He said the duo then ran off, leaving Mugabo in the boot. His wife called the neighbours who helped him out and reported the matter to the Police.
But Matovu admitted to have participated in the robbery.
He said he was wooed into the vice by Stephen Ndyanabo, who he said was working with the anti-robbery squad at Masaka Police Station.
